Volunteer event stewards needed

Event stewards are needed to help make the Tour de Yorkshire and ‘E By ek’ Yorkshire street party another memorable and successful event for the Bishopthorpe Road area in York!

The event will take place on Saturday 2 May and the role will focus primarily on assisting, advising and ensuring the safety of all attendees in the Bishopthorpe Road area. There will also be a requirement to help out with the stallholders etc at the end of the bike race as the area will be transformed and set up for the street party. Additional duties will include providing some traffic advice and supporting the recycling team in keeping the streets clean and tidy.

There are likely to be two shifts that volunteers can choose from; the first between approximately 10.30am and 4.30pm when the races are passing by and other events are taking place, and from 4pm until approximately 9pm when the road will be closed and further stalls/events are set up.

There will be a briefing session prior to the event and there will also be a full induction, safety briefing and staff handbook provided for all stewards and they will be supported by event organisers throughout the day.

This is an ideal experience for those wanting hands-on experience of working at a large community event or to gain an inside understanding of event management.

The theme is Yorkshire so flat caps are very welcome! It’s going to be a fun event so please get involved if you can.
