Guest Blog: Louise Soulsby, Chair of York Cares

York Cares.  Such a simple name but it conveys so much, as it is the essence of what this wonderful charity does.

I’m excited to be joining York Cares as Chair and to hopefully bring more people together to make a difference to our local community. The need has never been greater. The past year has been extremely tough for each and every one of us. It has also highlighted more than ever some of the challenges faced by many people.

We’ve all missed those social connections, meeting face to face, things we took for granted, many of us forced to work from home. As lockdown restrictions start to ease, employees will start to tentatively head back into the office and some sense of normality will start to resume.

The novelty of working from home has definitely worn off for me and I’m sick of staring into my screen day in day out. I long to meet people face to face. And what better way for employers to help bring teams back together (albeit safely and within the current rules of course) than a team challenge? See more details here. If a team challenge isn’t quite for you there are plenty of other ways you can volunteer and offer your skills. Now is the time for us to make more of a difference to those that need it most. What are you waiting for?
