Hi I’m Molly, the new Communications and Aspirations intern at York Cares. I am volunteering with the charity alongside studying for my Integrated Masters in Psychology so am really excited to do something new for my fourth and final year at The University of York. I am only in my second week of the internship and so am still getting the hang of everything but I am feeling really motivated to help such an amazing charity have a great year!

Looking at the feedback from our partners across all of the projects we run, it is clear that the work that York Cares does makes a real impact in the community. Seeing how much our volunteers get out of working with us is also fantastic!

I am really looking forward to working on Project Dare this year and working with volunteers from the University to see real change in our schools. I hope to build on the already amazing success of the project and help to expand it by working with local employers. The mental health theme that Benenden are basing their session on is hopefully going to be very effective in providing the students with the confidence and tools to start talking about and dealing with such an increasingly important issue. The unique experiences that young people get through taking part will hopefully inspire them aim high and broaden their horizons for the future!
