The York Cares team reconnect

Back in September, the York Cares team had an away day. It was the first time that we have all been together as a team for a long time and it was brilliant to make up for lost time, both in discussions about our work and also in cake consumption!

We spent the morning at a new co-location space at York CVS which was a great opportunity for us to plan out activity over the coming year. We’re really looking forward to being able to have more face to face activity taking pace across our programmes. We are also aware that we need to align our programmes with the hybrid way of working and look to have some ongoing virtual opportunities too.

In the afternoon we headed over to West Bank Park and got stuck in to a Team Challenge of our own, facilitated by Kristina from City of York Council’s ECO Team. We had a great afternoon weatherproofing a fence for winter. It was brilliant to all be together and just have time to chat about our lives, what we’ve been watching on TV, and also to eat some more cake in our well deserved tea break!

Over the last few months it’s been brilliant to see so many teams getting involved in Team Challenges, using these as an opportunity to give back to the community but also to reconnect with colleagues. We’re hopeful that many more teams will get involved with the Team Challenge programme over the coming months as more and more people begin to reconnect in a face to face working environment.
