York Cares Stakeholder 2019
Skills Share re-launch:
On Tuesday 9th April we welcomed over 60 individuals from businesses, community organisations and charities across York to our annual Stakeholder meeting at Aviva.
Our theme this year was how we bring businesses and communities together through the sharing of skills. Individuals at the event heard from Jan Garrill, Chief Executive of Two Ridings Community Foundation and Alison Semmence, Chief Executive of York CVS, who opened up the event highlighting the difficulties the third sector faces and the importance of cross sector skills sharing.
The second half of the evening was led by community partners Experience Counts who shared their experience of being matched with an employee-volunteer through the Skills Share programme and how this sharing of business expertise has helped their business to develop. Marc Crosbie the Volunteer Ambassador for Experience Counts shared with everyone how he benefitted from attending an Experience Counts programme. Three community organisations were then given the opportunity to pitch for volunteers with skills ranging from website design and development to HR and business mentoring.
