Employers

York Cares works with businesses to give employees the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the city in which they live or work.

York Cares offers a flexible volunteering programme, developed in partnership with local community organisations, which can be tailored to your organisational interests and staff commitments.
Some of the projects volunteers have been involved with include:

  • Setting up a tailored work-experience programme for young people leaving residential or foster care
  • Giving a lunchtime each week or fortnight to listen to primary school children read

Over the last year, more than 700 employees from across the city have taken up opportunities with 50 community organisations.

"Individuals have valued their time in the community, whether they have applied their skills in a new environment or simply helped someone else. Many of these benefits can be translated back to the workplace."
