Upcoming Activity

Below is an outline of upcoming activity which is open to sign-ups, all sessions are currently taking place over Zoom due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. To take part, young people will need to complete a registration form for the project to ensure that appropriate consent is in place for data collection as part of the project’s evaluation.

On Track and Starting Blocks Launch event, 20 January, 5.30-7-30pm

The event is open to young people and supporters (e.g. foster carers, family members, social workers and other professionals). It will include an overview of the On Track programme, a Q&A session with current university students and some fun, interactive activities.

Apprenticeship Skills Workshop, 28 January, 5-6.30pm

Open to young people in Year 10 upwards

Are you interested in finding out more about apprenticeships? Hear from NYBEP with an overview of apprenticeship programmes and to find out more about some current opportunities. There will then be the opportunity to hear from some care experienced young people who are current apprentices or have experience of apprenticeships.

Behind the Scenes of York’s Guildhall with Vinci Construction, 16 February, 1pm

Open to young people in Year 7 upwards

Hear from Vinci Construction about their renovation work at York’s Guildhall and take part in a virtual behind the scenes tour of the Guildhall.

Knowing your Strengths Skills Workshop, 18 February, 5-6.30pm

Open to young people in Year 10 upwards

Nestle are delivering a session designed to help you think about your strengths and how you may use these when thinking about options for your future and applying for jobs.

Confidence Masterclass Skills Workshop, 4 March, 5-6.30pm

Open to young people in Year 10 upwards

Nestle are delivering a confidence boosting skills workshop designed to help you feel more confident. They will look at ways to boost your confidence as well as ways that confidence may help you when thinking about your options for the future.

Behind the Scenes, Working with Young People, 25 March, 5-6.30pm

Are you interested in finding out more about working with young people? This event will give you the opportunity to hear from a range of people who all work with children and young people to see some of the different roles that are possible. There will also be the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Behind the Scenes, Thinking about University?, 22 April, 5-6pm

Hear from current University of York students about their experience studying at university. Learn what lectures and seminars are, how the money works, what they love about uni and more. There will be plenty of time for questions about all things university!

What is volunteering?, Skills Workshop, 5-6.30pm

Are you interested in getting involved in volunteering to help develop your skills and interests? This event will give you the opportunity to hear from people about their volunteering experience and how it has helped them with their futures. There will also be the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
