Golden Moments 2021
Last week we celebrated our annual Golden Moments awards and although this year’s event was virtual, it was still a fantastic celebration of the huge difference that employee-volunteers have made over the last year.
We were delighted to be joined by over 50 people from our member and partner organisations. Chair or York Cares, Louise Soulsby, welcomed everyone and spoke about the difference that employee-volunteers have made over the last year despite the challenging circumstances.
Elly Fiorentini from BBC Radio York did an amazing job of helping employee-volunteers share their stories about the volunteering that they’ve been involved in and the impact it had both on them and the community.
Then it was over to another member of the York Cares Board, James Clarke, who announced the award winners. There were 18 awards in total which were all very well deserved, winners came from Nestlé, boxxe, Aviva, The Partners Group, York St. John University, Benenden Health, Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF), Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, Joanne Thompson (FCCA), University of York, and City of York Council. There was also an award for our very own Katy Elliott who has been on her placement year with us this year.
This year’s annual film was created by talented employee-volunteers from boxxe and it features our recent Big Community Challenge at Rowntree Park. You can watch is via this link https://bit.ly/3edUJBN.
Board member Joe Micheli then offered thanks to all of the employee-volunteers and the enormous contribution they make to the city as well as some very heartfelt words about the challenges many have overcome in the last year.
Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s Golden Moments and to all the employee-volunteers who have been involved over the last year.
We’ve got everything crossed that next year’s celebrations will be face to face!
