Kali Klimentova’s first month at York Cares.

Starting my placement at York Cares has been an incredible experience thus far. Even though I only started a few weeks ago, I already feel like a part of the team. Since the very beginning, my colleagues have been extremely supportive and welcoming. Being a placement student was at first very overwhelming, as the office environment to me was unfamiliar. However, the team at York Cares have provided amazing guidance and support, which helped me become more comfortable in the workplace as well as more confident in my abilities. 

The most exciting aspect of my placement is managing the Team Challenge program. Being trusted with such an important aspect of York Cares, so early on, has been very rewarding. Organising team challenges, alongside employee volunteers and community partners, has enabled me to meet new people and learn more about the amazing city that is York. Working with such motivated individuals, whilst transforming outdoor spaces around York, has been incredibly fulfilling. 

As my placement unfolds, I am looking forward to getting involved with other parts of the charity like Social Connections and organising Christmas events and donations. I am eager to learn from my lovely colleagues and make more connections throughout my placement. I look forward to the rest of my placement and what the future holds at York Cares.
