Partnerships within our city: boxxe and ITReUse

When I was introduced to Tom and the ITReUse team what initially blew me away was their passion. The team were changemakers with a genuine desire to make our communities more inclusive using the power of technology.

What backed this up was their impact report. A gold star example of how far-reaching impact can be achieved even by the smallest of initiatives. Their data covered everything from how many people they’d helped to case studies of beneficiaries and even how much environmental good they’d achieved by saving e-waste. Not bad for a charity that started with two laptops and two volunteers. Digital poverty was an issue thrown to the very front of public consciousness throughout the pandemic and they were addressing a very real problem with solutions that delivered.

When selecting community partnerships, we look for those that uphold our values, use our business strengths and target grassroots organisations where the need is greatest. A partnership with ITReUse met all of these and more. Whilst we instantly knew this was a partnership that made sense, there were road bumps along the way. We didn’t just jump straight into the first ideas we had on volunteering and we worked closely together to discover the problems and solutions we could address most effectively together. The benefit of this is that we have been able to establish a truly collaborative approach that meets both of our objectives and creates the most effective partnership.

The time spent on development was more than worth it for the successes we have seen. We now have a multi-faceted partnership that supports us in delivering authentic social value across our sustainability and community promises and together we’ve been able to achieve tangible outcomes:

  • ITReUse is now our default destination for old kit supporting ITReUse with the high demand for support. This means our tech is used for the benefit of our community and avoids landfill.
  • Our professional services teams dedicate their boxxe community days to securely preparing our kit for donation. This allows them to contribute their skills and deliver maximum impact with their volunteering time.
  • boxxe volunteers from across the company regularly attend the ITReUse facilities to help prepare donations allowing them to enhance existing skills and develop new ones whilst fulfilling our time commitment to giving back.
  • Our MS365 Developer is working remotely with the team to provide insight on how to develop their systems maximising the teams efficiency.
  • ITReUse have even hosted team community day at their warehouse allowing our boxxe teams to get together and do good in the community.

It has been an exciting process to see our achievements develop. Achieving CSR goals can be challenging, and this shows this success that can be unlocked through careful and correct partnership selection and co-development.

At boxxe our mission is making technology human and our partnership with ITReUse allows us to deliver on this promise consistently and effectively.
